Abbey United u13s travelled to Dublin to face a top team in Greenhills Boys AFC  for a challenge game on our pre season tour.
It was a great game from start to finish in what was seriously a very hot day in the capital.
Abbey started off on the front foot from minute one & the hard work paid off as we scored a great team goal within 10 minutes with a great finish from Alfie Fitzgerald.
Abbey continued to dominate the game but just before half-time a debatable decision went against us & we went into the break at 1-1.

Seconds into the second half we gave away which was another debatable decision as the opposition player seemed to trip over his own foot but penalty was given.
Ryan Scanlon brilliantly saved the penalty but they followed in with the rebound to make it 2-1.
Abbey who now had rang the changes & made plenty of substitutes, kept on pushing for the equaliser & midway through the second half got the goal we deserved from some brilliant footwork from Lee Regan who weaved his way through the Greenhills defence & stuck it in the far corner with an unbelievable finish.. 2-2.

Both team’s went for it with chances at both ends but it was Greenhills who snatched a winner in the dying minute’s after an unbelievable save from Ryan Scanlon was touched on to the crossbar but was followed up with a tap in for the home side.

What a game & what a spectacle for a challenge game & we would like to thank Greenhills for being such great hosts.. we will see you soon for the rematch when you come to Sligo.
