
Abbey u13s started the season on a high having the previous season finished mid-table and entering in the shield to beat Gurteen Celtic in a dramatic final producing the first piece of silver ware for the club since the reformation.
Abbeys first game was to Benbulben away in Cliffoney Abbey were strong and won out with a scoreline above the recorded 5-0 win. Followed up by a midweek 7-3 win against local rivals Merville. Next was Dromahair and Gurteen Celtic who Abbey beat 4-1 and 3-0 respectively. Then two draw 1-1 draws against Boyle and Coolaney seemingly put the league out of Abbeys grasp. But a 7-1 win against Carrick Town put Abbey back on track coming up against Real Tubber with both teams knowing a win could set them up to win the league Real Tubber took an early lead before Abbey equalised in the second half a dramatic corner kick in the last 5 minutes securing Abbey a 2-1 win. The final game seen Abbey play against St. Johns in Sean Fallon Park on a very sunny evening with Abbey winning 4-1 and lifting the league title as unbeaten champions
